Abeam does not collect, store or share any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no server run by the developer.
What stays on your device
- Your settings, instrument pages and alarm choices are stored on your phone and in iCloud only if you have iCloud backup turned on for the app.
- Boat data received from your gateway (wind, speed, depth, position, AIS and similar) is kept on the phone for history graphs and the track log. Nothing is uploaded.
- The Apple Watch app receives the same data from the phone over Apple's device link.
Location
Abeam uses the phone's location only if you turn on Phone GPS or arm an anchor or off-heading alarm. Location is used on the device to position the boat and run the alarm. It is not sent anywhere.
Network
Abeam connects to the NMEA or Signal K gateway on your boat's Wi-Fi at the address you enter. Tapping an AIS target's web search opens your browser with the vessel's MMSI; that request goes to the search engine, not to the developer.
Purchases
The optional tip is an in-app purchase handled by Apple. The developer receives no personal information from it.
Children
Abeam is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
